What Is Unleashing Impact?

As the world faces seeming unsolvable problems involving opportunity, equality, autonomy, safety, justice, creativity, health, education, and the lessening of human suffering, many organizations and funders remain mired in linear, unimaginative thinking. Unleashing Impact teaches the core tools of innovative entrepreneurship, combining the best thinking from the world’s most innovative companies, NGOs, and nonprofits with leading research on leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and working with scarcity and trauma affected populations. The programs are intended for aspiring and current impact entrepreneurs, funders, and those who wish to transform their communities.

Design and Lean Impact

Human Centered Design and Lean Impact principles focus innovation on actual human experience using empathy, experimentation, rapid iteration, and resources efficiency. We test for value, growth, and impact leanly before scaling.

Humanizing and Scaling

Innovation scales through exponential growth models, growth hacking, data analytics, and Agile development methods. We measure what matters at each stage, avoiding “vanity” metrics. We always focus on the effect on actual humans.

Sustainable, Durable Impact

To scale, impact should ideally be economically sustainable. Innovation cannot solve all problems in isolation and requires changes to norms, narratives, policy, and mindsets. Also, change which is not durable after time does not create lasting impact.

Scarcity, Trauma, and Agency

Scarcity and trauma changes those we wish to help at a physiological level. Too many programs fail because they do not use scarcity and trauma informed approaches. Impact is maximized when those we help become active agents of their own change.

Why We Created Unleashing Impact

My name is David Frazee. I want to share my lifetime of knowledge promoting innovative entrepreneurship worldwide to create opportunity, lessen poverty, and reduce suffering. Having grown up under the poverty level myself, I fiercely believe all of us contain extraordinary powers to transform our communities and make exponential change. My mantra is “be the person you needed to save you when no one did.” This program will teach you what I took a lifetime to learn (and am still learning!) My name is Mia Albano. I specialize in global development and transnational migrant labor, focusing on the stories of real people and the connections among poverty, scarcity, and trauma. Development programs have failed because they ignore real people and trauma, and they often inadvertently create technologies, policies, and systems that compound human suffering. Ultimately, my goal is to teach “disadvantaged” populations how they can use creativity, business, and innovation tools to solve problems affecting their own communities, thus restoring their agency.
